We are close colleagues in upper Gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery who are members of the obesity surgery service in Southampton, that has now performed over 1,000 bariatric surgical procedures. The obesity service in Southampton has a full specialist team supported by specialist dietician, nurses and anaesthetists.
As experienced bariatric(obesity) surgeons we are used to helping patients achieve dramatic improvements in their health and well being through successful weight loss surgery. We believe that POSE may represent a significant step forward in helping those who are significantly overweight for whom conventional obesity surgery is not the best option.
We have worked together to establish Minimally invasive cancer surgery in Southampton, in a service that has now performed over 100 minimally invasive oesophageal cancer resections.
We are both very interested in developing the use and adaptation of new and existing technologies to serve the needs of our patients and enhance their quality of life.
